The Florence Griswold Museum at 96 Lyme St. in Old Lyme kicks off its two-week GardenFest Friday, with garden tours, demonstrations and art activities through June 27, and a plant sale of heirloom perennials and unusual annuals Friday and Saturday... Friends of the Farmington Library will hold the 12th annual Farmington Kitchen and Garden Tour Saturday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. The tour includes seven Colonials with updated kitchens, many with shade gardens and a bird sanctuary garden. Free demonstrations will cover composting (June 15), flower arranging (June 17), selecting and caring for roses (June 22), and planting and caring for vegetable gardens (June 24). By the way, in this Friday's At Home section I'm featuring one of the houses on the tour -- Amy and Brian Suffredini's home on High Street. a 17th-century "keeping room" and an antique one-room schoolhouse later were added, and more recently a contemporary farmhouse-style kitchen and great room were built. Then the house was also connected to the barn. , each at 11 a. m. Kitchens And Gardens. The original home was built in 1878.
