In July the nursery was featured on BBC Gardeners World when it won our an RHS Gold Award at the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show. John Foley, 24, who runs Holden Clough Nursery, said he felt ‘over the moon’ after he was named as a one of four finalists in the BBC Young Gardener of the Year. He said: “The whole experience was a real eye-opener to actually see how many young people are interested in gardening as the initial number of entrants was over 700 across the country. A TALENTED young gardener is to show off his green-fingered skills after being named one of the top in his profession. He runs the Bolton-by-Bowland business with his girlfriend, Kate Lawson, 22, after taking over from his father, Peter Foley, who bought the nursery in 1978.

Cheshire Girl Guides mark county centenary with garden at RHS Tatton Flower Show May 8 2010 Crewe Chronicle . GIRLGUIDING is celebrating its’ centenary this year and to mark the special occasion, members of Cheshire Border have entered a garden... The garden has traditional but will show how Guiding is a modern, forward thinking organisation with over half a million members in the UK. The garden includes a water feature to symbolise the global nature of Guiding, a carved wooden owl, silver... The back-to-back garden - entitled ‘Growing Girls Growing Guiding’ includes ideas by girls from across the county, co-ordinated by Guide Leader Libby Mooney. The garden will feature planting to attract wildlife and lots of the flowers in the centenary colours of pinks, blues and yellows. We think it’s a fabulous way to tell people about Guiding and celebrate our centenary.
