Glossy blooms from Jamie Durie's passion

She says the new title will slot into Pacific's portfolio as a "sister publication" for Home Beautiful, without trampling on the turf of Your Garden, which is for the "hard-core" gardener, or Better Homes & Gardens, which is more project-based and... The quarterly title will most likely be called The Outdoor Room, also the name of Durie's short-lived Seven Network series, and will show readers how to turn their outdoor space into a useful living area. "People want their gardens, outdoor spaces and living areas to be expressions of their personality, they want to be more creative," Durie says. "It's more of an outdoor lifestyle magazine for a younger audience than a gardening magazine. The first issue of The Outdoor Room is due out in September, with content covering landscaping, gardening, food, decorating, entertaining, well-being, pets and travel. Durie has written for numerous publications over the years but says having a magazine dedicated to his pet passion - what he calls "luxe-scaping", or teaching people how to live outside - is a long-held dream.
